The Grove Residential Home
Providing exceptional care and support for your loved ones
Providing exceptional care and support for your loved ones
Our philosophy of care
To maintain the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of residents; recognising their rights to dignity, privacy, confidentiality and freedom of choice to live their lives as they wish, in a caring environment with encouragement and support specific to their needs.
The Grove
The Grove is a beautiful home set in a pleasant residential area, close to the centre of Maidstone. It has easy access to local amenities such as shopping, social, medical and transport services.
Our Rooms
The Grove's forty two personal rooms are maintained to a very high standard and provide light and spacious accommodation.
The rooms are over two floors with stairs and a four-person safety lift providing access to the first floor.
All rooms have their own en-suite washing facilities and thirty nine also have an en-suite W.C. For maximum comfort we have a large toilet facility for the disabled, and our seven bathrooms and wet rooms are conveniently located for the rooms.
Each room is furnished, but you can bring your own furniture if you wish to give the room a familiar feel.
All of our rooms have telephone, satellite and terrestrial television and internet points. A nurse-call system is installed in all rooms and throughout the home for our residents' safety and reassurance.
Communal spaces
A great deal of care and planning has gone into our three lounge areas to provide spaces which are beautifully decorated with an outlook over the lovely grounds. We have a bright and airy dining room, where meals are usually served unless a resident prefers to eat in his/her personal room.
Getting to know us
You and your family are welcome to visit The Grove to look round the home, meet the staff and residents and discuss any care arrangements. If this is not possible, we will arrange to visit you in your own home.
After moving to The Grove, we'll arrange a meeting with you and your family, and social worker (if applicable), after about six weeks, to review all the arrangements.
Our aim is to make sure you are happy with the service and care that we are providing and the review gives us the opportunity to discuss any aspects that we can improve on.
In general, we have an 'open door' policy with family and friends welcome to visit at any time. We have regular review meetings to make sure our residents are happy and their needs are met - friends and family are encouraged to take part.
Our care
Integrity and genuine concern for the individual are at the heart of our care.
Our residents are supported in their daily routines, according to their individual needs, by our trained care workers. Assistance is given in personal care such as bathing, toilet assistance, shaving, eating, drinking, walking, dressing and undressing, reading and writing and most other daily needs.
Our staff will care for residents who may become sick or unwell, as they might in their own homes, to assist them back to a state of well-being.
Working with healthcare professionals
Our staff works very closely with the resident's GP, the District Nursing Services, local hospitals and other community services to support the resident's healthcare needs.
There is frequent liaison with specialist professionals regarding eyesight, hearing, dental care, diet and chiropody to ensure that all these needs are provided for.
Maintaining independence
Residents live at The Grove and most of their needs are met by the home, but it is important that they should not feel parted from family and loved ones. We welcome and encourage as much involvement from families as possible - visitors are welcome at any time and residents are encouraged to go out with friends and family.
To us, residential care is about maintaining independence in a supportive environment.
Activities
The care we provide is supported by varied and stimulating activities so that each individual can find something they can enjoy and share with other residents.
These include games, talks, quizzes, video presentations, singing and a variety of activities arranged by outside professionals. We print a monthly newsletter to display pictures of events and inform residents and families of upcoming occasions and activities.
We have a small library and we arrange visits to the garden centre or the beach in the summer. Residents are encouraged to walk and sit in the lovely garden on warm days and enjoy a little gardening if they wish to.
Our residents are drawn from all religious denominations. Arrangements are made for those who wish to attend a local church or place of worship and regular services are held at The Grove by the established churches.
Meals
We recognise that enjoying and sharing meals is a very important part of daily life, so at The Grove we pride ourselves on the range and quality of the food we provide.
Our menus are chosen to provide a choice of wholesome, appetising meals and a sensible dietary balance. We do, of course, cater for any special dietary needs.
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
